NAFTA Anniversary Marked by Further Tariff Cuts

On Jan. 1, 1996, NAFTA marked its second anniversary with implementation of the agreement’s third round of sheduled tariff reductions for goods trated between Mexico, the United States and Canada.

U.S. Filter: Environmental Investment in Mexico Pays Off

In a sign of continued business confidence as well as environmental commitment in Mexico, U.S. Filter on Dec. 20 inaugurated a new $6 million wastewater treatment plant,  located in the city of Yautepec in the central state of Morelos, is the largest and the second completed of eight wastewater treatment plants awarded by the state in 9994.

Mexico Deregulation Initiative to Spur Business Growth

To fulfill one of the major economic modernization goals of this administration, Mexico’s President Ernesto Zedillo on Nov. 23, 1995 issued a sweeping new initiative to cut unnecessary red tape and other bureaucratic obstacles that slow or block business growth.
